Saying Allah will not forgive you

Narrated AbuHurayrah:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: There were two men among Banu Isra'il, who were striving for the same goal. One of them would commit sin and the other would strive to do his best in the world. The man who exerted himself in worship continued to see the other in sin.

He would say: Refrain from it. One day he found him in sin and said to him: Refrain from it.

He said: Leave me alone with my Lord. Have you been sent as a watchman over me? He said: I swear by Allah, Allah will not forgive you, nor will he admit you to Paradise. Then their souls were taken back (by Allah), and they met together with the Lord of the worlds.

He (Allah) said to this man who had striven hard in worship; Had you knowledge about Me or had you power over that which I had in My hand? He said to the man who sinned: Go and enter Paradise by My mercy. He said about the other: Take him to Hell.

AbuHurayrah said: By Him in Whose hand my soul is, he spoke a word by which this world and the next world of his were destroyed.

Defintion of Salafiyyah

So, be afraid of Allah, and be patient, for I am the best predecessor for you (in the Hereafter).

The word is picked up from the above Hadith though it doesn't mean the first three generations.

Defintion of  Salafiyyah by  Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Uthaymeen

Praise be to Allaah.
The Salafis are the followers of the way of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and his Companions, because they are the ones who came before us (the Salaf) and who advanced ahead of us, so their followers are the Salafis.

With regard to taking Salafiyyah as a path or methodology which a person follows and regards as misguided those Muslims who differ with him, even if they are following the truth, and taking Salafiyyah as a partisan path is undoubtedly contrary to Salafiyyah. All of the Salaf or early generations called for unity and harmony around the Sunnah of the Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and did not regard as misguided those who differed with them with on the basis of their understanding and interpretation, except when it came to matters of ‘aqeedah or beliefs, because they regarded those who differed with them in these matters as misguided.  But with regard to practical issues they were often easy-going.

But some of those who followed the path of Salafiyyah in modern times started to regard as misguided everyone who differed from them, even if that person was correct, and some of them adopted a partisan approach like that of other parties which claimed to belong to the religion of Islam. This is something that is to be denounced and cannot be approved of, and it should be said to these people: Look at the way of the righteous early generation (al-salaf al-saalih), what did they used to do? Look at their way and how open hearted they were in the case of differences in which ijtihaad is justified (and differences of opinion are allowed). They even used to differ concerning major issues, matters of belief and practical issues. You will find some of them, for example, denying that the Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) saw his Lord, whereas others say that he did see Him. You will see some of them saying that what will be weighed on the Day of Resurrection is deeds, whereas others will say that it is the books of deeds that will be weighed. You will also see them differing a great deal with regard to matters of fiqh having to do with marriage, shares of inheritance, buying and selling, and other issues. Yet despite all that they did not regard one another as misguided.

Salafiyyah in the sense of being a particular party with its distinguishing characteristics and in which the members regard everyone else as misguided, these people have nothing to do with Salafiyyah at all. As for the Salafiyyah which means following the path of the Salaf in belief, word and deed, in calling for unity and harmony and mutual compassion and love, as the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “The likeness of the believers in their mutual love, mercy and compassion is that of a single body; when one part of it is suffering the rest of the body joins it in fever and staying awake” -- this is the true Salafiyyah. End quote.

Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him).
Liqaa’aat al-Baab al-Maftooh, 3/246   http://islamqa.info/en/125476

Personal Note:
Prophet(saw) and his companions were  NOT ONLY Best in their Aqeedah but also very best in their Aqlaaq(Moral Characters) and Best in their Ibaadah.
They were most loving towards each other as ALLAH Azwajal says in these verses:
Surat Al-Fatĥ Chapter 48 Verse 29
Muhammadun rasoolu Allahi waallatheena maAAahu ashiddao AAala alkuffari ruhamao baynahum
Muhammad (SAW) is the Messenger of Allah, and those who are with him are severe against disbelievers, and merciful among themselves.
But are we Merciful among ourselves, following the way of companions (RadhiALLAHU anhum)???

Imam Ahmad recorded from Thawban that the Prophet said:
Do not annoy the servants of Allah, nor abuse them, nor seek their hidden shortcomings. Whoever seeks out the faults of his Muslim brother, Allah will expose his faults and degrade him, even if he is hiding in his house.

Seeking Knowledge

Seeking Knowledge by Sheik Abdullah bin Mubarak
1. Intention - (Oh how far are we from the pure intention that is required by Allah for this noble cause)

2. Listening - (He uses the word الاستماع which actually means to know what you are listening to and/or listening attentively)

3. Understanding of what you just listened to - (Of the hundreds of ahadith that we as students of knowledge hear on a daily basis, how much of it do we actually grasp the understanding of it?)

4. Practicing upon it - (verily the knowledge will be a burden and proof against us on the day of judgement)

5.) Memorizing it - (How much attention are we paying to actually memorizing hadith and then actually safeguarding it to memory?)

6.) Propagating it - (How are we propagating the sayings of Allah and His Messenger? Are we doing it in a manner that if the Prophet (saw) was here and listening to us will be pleased with our style and ways?)

Saying Salaam to Non Muslim, Ignorant or unknown person

All Praise and Thanks be To ALLAH Azwajal
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
Do not greet the Jews and the Christians before they greet you and when you meet any one of them on the roads force him to go to the narrowest part of it.
Sahih Muslim 2167 a (http://sunnah.com/muslim/39/16)

But when it it is necessary to initiate like doing Dawa or Writing letter say "Salamu AAala mani ittabaAAa alhuda" [Peace will be upon him who follows the guidance!]"

[20:47] "So go you both to him, and say: 'Verily, we are Messengers of your Lord, so let the Children of Israel go with us, and torment them not; indeed, we have come with a sign from your Lord! And peace will be upon him who follows the guidance!

Because of this, when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wrote a letter to Heraclius, the emperor of Rome, beginning with "Peace will be upon him who follows the guidance!"

Replying to salaam
Anas reported that the Companions of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) said to him:
The People. of the Book offer us salutations (by saying as-Salamu- 'Alaikum). How should we reciprocate them? Thereupon he said: Say: Wa 'Alaikum (and upon you too).
[Sahih Muslim 2163 b]

Saying salaam to the Ignorant:
[25:63] And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace

[28:55] And when they hear Al-Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk), they withdraw from it and say: "To us our deeds, and to you your deeds. Peace be to you. We seek not (the way of) the ignorant."

Salaam to Unknown person, like in telephone
[51: 24-25] Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibrâîl (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrâhîm (Abraham)? When they came in to him and said: "Salâm (peace be upon you)!" He answered: "Salâm (peace be upon you)," and said: "You are a people unknown to me."

Saying salaam to someone unknown on the telephone by Shaykh Ibn Baaz

All Praise is due to Allaah and may Allaah send His Most Perfect Peace and Blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and his Companions.

Saying Salaam

(V.4:86) How the Salâm (greeting) began.

Narrated Abu Hurairah [radhi-yAllâhu 'anhu]: The Prophet [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam] said, "Allâh created Adam in His Image,* sixty cubits (about 30 metres) in height. When He created him, He said (to him), 'Go and greet that group of angels sitting there, and listen what they will say in reply to you, for that will be your greeting and the greeting of your offspring.' Adam (went and) said, 'As-Salâmu 'Alaikum (peace be upon you).' They replied, 'As-Salâmu 'Alaikum wa Rahmatullah (Peace and Allâh's Mercy be on you).' So they increased 'wa Rahmatullah.' " The Prophet [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam] added, "So, whoever will enter Paradise, will be of the shape and picture of Adam. Since then the creation (of Adam's offspring) (i.e. stature of human beings) is being diminished continuously up to the present time."

[Sahih Al-Bukhâri, 8/6227 (O.P.246)]

[6:54] When those who believe in Our Ayât come to you, say: "Salâmun 'Alaikum" (peace be on you); your Lord has written (prescribed) Mercy for Himself, so that if any of you does evil in ignorance, and thereafter repents and does righteous good deeds (by obeying Allâh), then surely, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

[4:86] When you are greeted with a greeting, greet in return with what is better than it, or (at least) return it equally. Certainly, Allâh is Ever a Careful Account Taker of all things.

[24:61] But when you enter the houses, greet one another with a greeting from Allâh (i.e. say: As-Salâmu 'Alaikum wa Rahmatullâhi wa Barakâtuhu – peace be on you and Allâh's Mercy and His Blessings), blessed and good.

Sayyidina Abu Huraira (RA) reported on the authority of the Prophet (SAW) that salaam should be offered by the rider to the pedestrian, the pedestrian to the one who is seated, and a fewer number to a larger group. And, Ibn Muthanna added in his hadith: And the young should salute the old.
[Tirmidhi: 2712, Ahmed 10630, Bukhari 6231, Muslim 2160, Abu Dawud 5198]

Sayyidina Abu Huraira (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Let the young give salaam to the old, the passer-by to the seated and the few to the many.” [Tirmidhi: 2713]

Sayyidina Fardalah ibn Ubaid (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “Salaam is offered by the horse-rider to one who is on foot, and by the pedestrian to one who is standing, and by a smaller number to a larger number.”

[Tirmidhi: 2714 , Ahmed 23990, Bukhari 996]
Sayyidina AbuUmamah (RA) reported that someone submitted. “O Messenger of Allah (SAW) when two people meet, which of them must take the initative in greeting with salaam”? He said, “He who is nearer to Allah (must take precedence).’ [Tirmidhi: 2703]

Abdullah ibn Umar ibn Al-Khattab, the son of Umar ibn Al-Khattab (radiAllahu anhu) loved conveying salam (peace) to people.

He had seen the Beloved Prophet saying salam to eveybody, young and old, rich or poor. he said salam even to children playing in the way.

Abdullah (ra) loved the prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) very much, and loved to do exactly ) what the blessed Prophet did himself. So he also conveyed his salaams to everyone he met.

Abdullah (ra) began going to the market everyday, around all the different bazaars, where other Muslims were selling different things. But even though Abdullah ibn Al-Khattab (ra) was going every day, he wasn't buying anything. What was he doing, going to the market every day?

Abdullah (ra) was conveying his salaams! He greeted the shopkeepers, and the men in the street. He greeted people sitting down, and people standing. He greeted any person he met, high and low.

Someone noticed this too, and asked Abdullah why he would go to the market everyday, but not buy anything, "You come daily to the bazaar without fail, but you never buy, sell, or bargain anything. You don't wander in and around in the shops, or idly chat with shopkeepers. Instead, you always pass by the bazaar and go away again, stopping anywhere. Why do you do this?"

"I come to the bazaar to offer salaam to the people!," replied Abdullah (ra), "Not for shopping."

When you are greeted with a greeting, you greet with one better than it, or return it"

〰[Surah Nisa, 4: 86]

'The riding person should greet the walking one, and the walking person should greet the sitting one, and the small group greets the bigger group, and the young greet the old'

〰[Sahih al-Bukhari]

The Student of Knowledge and Humbleness
Shaykh Muḥammad Ibn Salih al-‘Uthaymin rahimahullah stated:
“Some students of knowledge today are rougher than the Bedouin, they don’t have amiable dispositions, or give the Salam nor (do they posses) humility.

Furthermore, there are some people who as they increase in knowledge, they increase in arrogance, and we seek refuge in Allah from this.
The real scholar is the one who as he increase in knowledge, he (likewise) increases in humbleness.

Angels and their physical composture

It is one of the Pillars of Eemaan to Beleive in The Angels. It is duty
A cleric in South India called P. Jainulabideen (PJ) says
"The verses stating that the Angels perform ‘Sajda’ to Adam (pbuh), must also be understood in the same sense (i. e submission). There are other reasons reinforcing the above viewThey do not have any specific physical appearance. There is no evidence to prove that they are having organs, which help in prostration" ref: http://www.onlinepj.com/Quran-pj-thamizakkam-thawheed/quran-thafseer-in-english/11-can-we-prostrate-do-sajda-to-humanbeings/

But here is the truth:
1. They have Wings:
The angels have great physical composure, as Allaah mentioned this about them in His saying: “All praise is for Allaah, the Originator of the heavens and the earth – who made the angels messengers with wings – two or three or four.” [Surah Faatir: 1]
This means that there are some angels that have two wings, some that have three and some that have four. And there are some angels that have more wings than that, for the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) saw the angel Jibreel and he had 600 wings – each wing blocking the horizon. This is just one of the many angels that exist. Allaah described him as being mighty in power, as He says: “He (Muhammad) has been taught (this Qur’aan) by one mighty in power.” [Surah An-Najm: 5] He is referring to Jibreel. “Free from any defect, then he rose (and became stable).” [Surah An-Najm: 6]
"This means that he possesses strength and a beautiful appearance." -Sheik Salih Al- Fowzaan

2. In their Original form, they have ears and shoulders:

Jabir b. ‘Abd Allah reported the Prophet (May peace be upon him) as saying :
I have been permitted to tell about one of Allah’s angels who bears the throne that the distance between the lobe of his ear and his shoulder is a journey of seven hundred years.
Sunan Abi Dawud 4727  Sahih (Al-Albani)

3. They have forehead and they all prostrate to ALLAH Azwajal

Abu Dharr (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "I see what you do not see and I hear what you do not hear; heaven has squeaked, and it has right to do so. By Him, in Whose Hand my soul is, there is not a space of four fingers in which there is not an angel who is prostrating his forehead before Allah, the Exalted. By Allah, if you knew what I know, you would laugh little, weep much, and you would not enjoy women in beds, but would go out to the open space beseeching Allah". [ Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2312 ]

Why is learning and protecting Aqeedah very important ?

Narrated Yusuf bin Mahk:
Aisha(RA), the mother of the Believers said:
(Be informed) that the first thing that was revealed thereof was a Sura from Al-Mufassal, and in it was mentioned Paradise and the Fire. When the people embraced Islam, the Verses regarding legal and illegal things were revealed. If the first thing to be revealed was: 'Do not drink alcoholic drinks.' people would have said, 'We will never leave alcoholic drinks,' and if there had been revealed, 'Do not commit illegal sexual intercourse, 'they would have said, 'We will never give up illegal sexual intercourse.'
Sahih al-Bukhari 4993

It was narrated that Jundub bin 'Abdullah said:
"We were with the Prophet (ﷺ), and we were strong youths, so we learned faith before we learned Qur'an. Then we learned Qur'an and our faith increased thereby."
Sunan Ibn Majah Hadith:64  Grade: Sahih

Why is learning and protecting Aqeedah ( Creed) very important ?
2 April 2014 at 19:49

When Ibn Taymiyah saw the Muslims in Baghdad becoming victims of wrong belief and  realised that bad rituals were inserted in the customs of Muslims, he sat after Asar and by Magrib he wrote a book AL AQEEDATUL WASITIYA , one of the finest book on aqeedah.  It was not the huge army of the Mongols of his time, that caused him to go to jail but the innovators drew plans and caused the learned Shaikh to go to jail. He did not mind.

When Mohammed bin Abdul Wahhab saw that biddah was being upgraded into shirk in the land of Arabia he not only wrote a book on aqeedah KITABUT TAUHID but took help of the military to fight spiritual corruption. He succeeded. The enemity goes on till today . The people who stress for correct Aqeedah  are abused as Wahabis. Shaikh Salem al Amry (http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLC7B8655C3C8ABC44) given around 100 episodes on Peace Tv explaining the book of Mohammed Ibn  Wahab. Watch it on You tube. DR Zubair Idris  has given a series of audio talks on aqeedah www.farhathashmi.com.

Shah Ismail  was  also a warrior and the author of the famous book that took innovating sufis aggresively,Taqwiyatul Imaan ( The strengthening of the Faith ) . This book teaches aqeedah.

Many prominent salaf scholars had to go to jail and  suffered  at the hands of the authorities . Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal and Imam Malik are the prominent examples of authoritarian atrocities due to their stand. When Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal was arrested and being taken to the khalifa ( who too was victim of deviated belief ) an unlettered shepherd stopped his caravan and looked up at the Imamm with a hope in his eyes and said : Yaa Shaikh ! We trust you. You are an Imam of truthful teachings. Dont give up to the hardhships and pressure of the authority. We look up to you as our Teacher. The biography of Imam Hanbal says that the Imam felt motivated by the shepherd's request.

Scholars of all age have warned and cautioned the ummah of the threats to aqeedah. They have sacrificed their status, family, life  and wealth to protect the ummah from getting the Imaan corrupted. The previous scholars have died but their works continue to be honourably circulated among the students of deen in thousands of Madaras and Islamic institutions and gatherings.

These threats come in various forms. It can be in the form of a Relgious ritual when people listen an awesome orator or read a religous book and get carried away by the narrations of fabricated hadith and fantasy tales of miracles. The Qur'an says in Surah Baqarah : Wa minnanasi mayyu'jiboka qauluhu... and among the men is one who mesmerises you with his speech. So be careful whom you hear and what you read regarding deen.

It can invade in the form of movements that initially appears very rosy and Islamic whereas the hidden agendas of the originators remains un noticed by the masses. The best example can be of " The Islamic revolution of Iran ". Dr Bilal Philips has written a very good book on it " The Mirage in Iran ".

Many social customs and entertainment too insert innovation in the creed. It can initiate in a wedding or burial where over enthusiatic particpants outbrust their emotions via culture borrowed from other " Isms". It can come in the form of Harry Potters where Black magic is glossifed and glamourised. It can be in getting over whelmed by fantasy characters like Superman, Bat man and Alladin's magic lamp.

Threats to Aqeedah has loomed at the Ummah during every hijri year. It gives you a wrong understanding of the concept of Allah. While you may still worship Allah yet your understanding of Allah gets mixed up like how it happened to the previous people. The best way is to stick to already senior scholars who speak on Aqeedah and Manhaj instead of trying the new crop of sparkling orators.

The Qur'an rigthly informs in Surah al An'am, ch 6, verse 82 : Those who have believed and have not corrupted their faith with zulm are the ones who are secured and the ones who are on guidance. The Sahaba inquired from the Prophet (pbuh ) regarding the term Zulm in this ayat and quoting a verse from Surah Luqman he expalined that it is " shirk" . So corrupting of  Iman can lead to shirk too hence it is dangerous to take it lightly.

Here is a nice Aqeedah book for kids http://www.hamaraybachchay.com/aqeedah-e-book/

Our lives are the only Quran some people will ever read

Several years ago, a Sheikh from out-of-town accepted a call to a town to propagates islam.
Some weeks after he arrived, he had an occasion to ride a bus from his home to the downtown area.
When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him 50 pence extra change. As he considered what to do, he thought to himself, 'You'd better give this money back. It would be wrong to keep it. Then he thought, "Oh, forget it, it's only 50p; who would worry about this little amount? Anyway, the bus company gets too much fare; they will never miss it. Accept it as a 'gift from Allah' and keep quiet.
"When his stop came, he paused momentarily at the door, and then he handed the 50p to the driver and said,'Here, you gave me extra change.' The driver, with a smile, replied,"Aren't you the new Sheikh in town?"
'Yes' he replied.
'Well, I have been thinking a lot lately about accepting Islam,' driver said.
I just wanted to see what you would do if I gave you extra change.
Then he said....
I'll see you at Masjid this Friday.
When the Sheikh stepped off the bus, he literally grabbed the nearest light pole, held on, and said, "Oh Allah, I almost sold Islam for 50 pence."
Our lives are the only Quran some people will ever read. This is a really scary example of how much people watch us as Muslims, and will put us to the test!
Always be on guard --
and remember --
You carry the name of Islam on your shoulders when you call yourself 'Muslims.'

Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits;  they become character.
Watch your character;  it becomes your destiny.
