Teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as it relates to COVID-19 CoronoVirus

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Unlike any other religion, al-Islam addresses every issue that can possibly affect mankind.

Covid-19 is just one of the many examples of this fact.

Allah said:

“...And We have sent down to you the Book AS A CLARIFICATION FOR ALL THINGS and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims” Nahl 89

Teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as it relates to COVID-19:

1) *QUARANTINE* is a Prophetic ﷺ advice.*

Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “one should run away from the leper as one runs away from a lion.”  Sahih al-Bukhari 5707

2) *SOCIAL DISTANCING* is a Prophetic ﷺ command.
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)  said, “A sick person should not be taken to one who is healthy”  [Sahih Muslim 2221]

3) *TRAVEL BAN* is a Prophetic ﷺ teaching.

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had said. If you are in a land where it (this scourge) has broken out, don't get out of it, and if you were to know that it had broken (in another land, then don't enter it. [Sahih Muslim 2218 & Bukhaari 5739]

4) *DON'T HARM OTHERS*, if you have symptoms.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Do not cause harm or reciprocate harm.”  Sunan Ibn Mājah (2340)

5) *STAYING HOME* is a Prophetic teaching

“Those who stay at home to protect themselves and others are under the protection of Allah.”_
Musnad Ahmed, Saheeh

6) If necessary, *YOUR HOUSE IS A MASJID*.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “The entire earth has been made a Masjid, except graveyards and washrooms.”_
Tirmidhi (al-Salaah, 291)

7) *THERE'S A CURE*

The Prophet ﷺ said “There is no disease that Allah sent, except that He also sent down its cure.”
Bukhari (Volume 7, Book 71, Number 582)

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Every disease has a cure. If a cure is applied to the disease, it is relieved by the permission of Allah.”_
Muslim (2204)

9) *FACE MASKING* is a Prophetic ﷺ teaching
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "None of you will have faith till he wishes for his (Muslim) brother what he likes for himself." (Sahih al-Bukhari 13)

Liking for others what we like ourself is part of faith and ALSO disliking for others what we dislike for ourselfs is also part of faith. Cough and Sneeze are communicable diseases same like Covid which one would dislike for themself. Why don't a Muslim do not cover the mouth and nose when they are sneezing or coughing?

Also this =>
Prophet (ﷺ) while sneezing, would cover his face with his hand or with his garment,”_
(Sunan Abi Dawud 5029 ; Tirmidhi (Book 43, Hadith 2969), Sahih)

10) *WASH HANDS COMPLETLY* every time you enter home.

Ibn Abbas narrated that :
Allah's Messenger said: "When performing Wudu go between the fingers of your hands and (toes of) your feet." [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 39, Sunan Ibn Majah 483,]

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Cleanliness is half of faith.”_. Muslim (223)

11) *HOME QUARANTINE* is a Prophetic advice

The plague (contagion) patient who remains in his home with patience and expectation of reward, knowing that nothing will befall him other than Allah’s decree will attain the reward or a martyr“_
Musnad Aḥmad, Sahih
also Bukhaari (2829) and Muslim (1914)

As Muslims we should be proud about our Deen and our Islamic identity and we should not apologise for any aspect of Islam.

"...و لله العزة وَلِرَسُولِهِ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلَٰكِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ (8)

“...And to Allah belongs [all] honor, and to His Messenger, and to the believers, but the hypocrites do not know”. Munafiqoon 8

Praise be to Allah - alone - for the guidance of Islam.
