Speech of Ali (RA) upon death of Abu Bakr (RA)

Upon hearing the sad news of death of Abu Bakr radhiyAllahu 'anhu, 'Ali ibn Abi Talib radhiyAllahu 'anhu hurried towards Abu Bakr's house, all the while saying, "Verily, we belong to Allah, and to Him is our return."

'Ali then stood outside the house in which Abu Bakr had died, and made the following long speech, which he addressed to Abu Bakr himself:

"O Abu Bakr, may Allah have Mercy upon you. You were the closest companion and friend of the Messenger of Allah salAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam; you were a comfort to him; you were the one he trusted most. If he had a secret, he would tell it to you; and if he needed to consult someone regarding a matter, he would consult you. You were the first of your people to embrace Islam, and you were the most sincere of them in your faith. Your faith was stronger than any other person's, as was the degree to which you feared Allah. And you were the wealthier than anyone else in terms of what you acquired from the religion of Allah 'Azza Wa-Jall. You cared most for both the Messenger of Allah salAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam and Islam. Of all people, you were the best Companion to the Messenger of Allah salAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam; you possessed the best qualities; you had the best past; you ranked highest; and you were closest to him. And of all people you resembled the Messenger of Allah salAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam the most in terms of his guidance and demeanor. Your ranking was higher than anyone else's, and the Prophet salAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam honored you and held you in higher esteem than anyone else. On behalf of the Messenger of Allah and Islam, may Allah reward with the best of rewards. When the people disbelieved in the Messenger of Allah salAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam, you believed in him. Throughout his life, you were both his eyes with which he saw, and his ears with which he heard. Allah has named you truthful in his book when He said:

"And the one who has brought the truth [Prophet] and [they who] believed in it - those are the righteous." Qur'an::Surah39:Ayah33

When people were stingy in their support for the Messenger of Allah salAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam, you comforted him. And when people sat still, you stood side by side with the Messenger of Allah salAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam, facing the same hardships that he faced. In times of hardship, you were truly a good and noble Companion of his. You were the 'second of two', his Companion in the Cave; and the one upon whom As-Sakeenah (peace, tranquility, calmness) descended. You were his Companion during migration, and you were his successor regarding the religion of Allah and His nation. And a truly good successor you proved to be when people apostatized. You did what no other Khaleefah of a Prophet did before you. You stood up firmly and bravely when his other Companions lost their resolve and became soft. And when they became weak, you adhered to the methodology of the Messenger of Allah salAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam. You truly were as the Messenger of Allah salAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam said: weak in your body, but strong regarding the commands of Allah; humble in yourself, but lofty in your ranking with Allah; well-esteemed in the eyes of people, honored and great in their hearts. Not a single one of them had any reason to dislike you, to be suspicious of you, or to hold you in contempt... The weak and humble you have always treated as strong and honorable, making sure you gave them what was rightfully theirs. And in this regard, you have treated relatives and strangers equally. Of all people, you respect those who are obedient to Allah and who fear Him the most. In your overall character, you embody truth and compassion. Your speech has always been characterized by the qualities of wisdom and decisiveness. And you have always struck a noble balance between gentleness and firmness. You have always based your decisions on knowledge, and once you have made your decisions, you have always kept a firm resolve to execute them... Verily to Allah do we belong, and to Him is our return. We are pleased with, and we submit to, Allah's decree. And by Allah, other than the death of the Messenger of Allah salAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam, Muslims have never been afflicted with a greater calamity than the calamity of your death. You have always been a protector, a sanctuary, and source of honor for this religion. May Allah 'Azza Wa-Jall make you join the company of His Prophet, Muhammad salAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam, and may he not deprive us of your reward. And may He not lead us astray after you."

People had gathered around 'Ali and listened to his speech until he finished. Then they all cried with raised voices, and they all responded in unison to 'Ali's speech, saying, "Indeed, you have spoken the truth."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=46zSUzNeLyY#t=1900s

Tawakkul (Trust on ALLAH)

Tawakkul (trust in Allah and using the means given by Him) is the strongest medicine for hopelessness and anxiety, dont deprive yourself of it!

Many times we say Tawakkalthu ALLAH but we don't say from the bottom of our heart.

ALLAH(Azwajal) says in Chapter 3 verse 159:

If Allah should aid you, no one can overcome you; but if He should forsake you, who is there that can aid you after Him? And upon Allah let the believers put their trust

Also ALLAH(Azwajal) says in Chapter 3 verse 59:
"Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him)"

Tawakkul has three levels: putting trust (in Allaah), then submitting, then entrusting (one’s affairs to Allaah); so the one who puts his trust (in Allaah) is reassured by His promise, and the one who submits is content with His knowledge, and the one who entrusts (his affairs to Allaah) is pleased with His decree.’”

Remember the story of Father of Yusuf (AS):
When the brothers of Yusuf (AS) wanted to kill him they said to his father

[12:7] Certainly were there in Joseph and his brothers signs for those who ask
[12:12] Send him with us tomorrow to enjoy himself and play, and verily, we will take care of him."
[12:13] He [Ya'qub (Jacob)] said: "Truly, it saddens me that you should take him away. I fear lest a wolf should devour him, while you are careless of him."
[12:14] They said, " If a wolf should eat him while we are a [strong] clan, indeed, we would then be losers."
So the brothers threw him into the bottom of the well.
Some of the Mufassir's comment on this saying Ya'qub (AS) didn't put his trust on ALLAH but he feared that a wolf may eat him..

In another incident in the Story of Yunus(AS)
Yunus(AS) was angry with the disbelief of the people and boarded the ship.
[10:98]. Yunus, meanwhile, went and traveled with some people on a ship, which was tossed about on the sea. The people were afraid that they would drown, so they cast lots to choose a man whom they would throw overboard. The lot fell to Yunus, but they refused to throw him overboard. This happened a second and a third time. Allah says:
(Then he (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers.) [37:141] meaning, the draw went against him, so Yunus stood up, removed his garment and cast himself into the sea.

http://www.qtafsir.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2628&Itemid=76

Here the people were afraid of the heavy tides, but did not put their Trust on ALLAH..

.There are many such waves in our life.. From unexpected sides..

But the believer should always put there trust on ALLAH (Azwajal) and he says
[3:173] "Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)."
and say
[9:51] Say: "Nothing shall ever happen to us except what Allah has ordained for us. He is our Maula (Lord, Helper and Protector)." And in Allah let the believers put their trust.

[46:13] Indeed, those who have said, "Our Lord is Allah ," and then remained on a right course - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.

[41:30] Indeed, those who have said, "Our Lord is Allah " and then remained on a right course - the angels will descend upon them, [saying], "Do not fear and do not grieve but receive good tidings of Paradise, which you were promised.

Touching Quran without Wudhu

Chapter 15  'The Quran' from  Malik's Muwatta.
15.1.1

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr ibn Hazm that
in a letter that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, sent to Amr ibn Hazm it said that  "No one should touch the Qur'an unless he was pure".

Malik said, "No-one should carry the Qur'an by its strap, or on a cushion, unless he is pure. If it were permissible to do so, it would also have been permissible to carry it in its cover. This is not because there is something on the hands of the one who carries it by which the Qur'an will be soiled, but because it is disapproved of for someone to carry the Qur'an without being pure out of respect for the Qur'an, and in order to honour it." Malik said, "The best thing that I have heard about this is the ayat 'None touch it except the purified.' (Sura 56 ayat 79) It ranks with the ayat in Surat Abasa (Sura 80), where Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, says, 'No, it is a reminder, and whoever wishes will remember it. Upon honoured pages, exalted and purified, by the hands of scribes, noble and obedient.' "

15.2.2Yahya related to me from Malik from Ayyub ibn Abi Tamima as-Sakhtayani from Muhammad ibn Sirin that Umar ibn al-Khattab was with some people who were reciting Qur'an. He went to relieve himself and then came back and recited Qur'an. One of the men said to him, "Amir al muminin, are you reciting the Qur'an without being in wudu?" Umar replied, "Who gave you a verdict on this? Was it Musaylima?"'

Hakim Ibn Hizam (RA) narrates that I was deputed as a Wali towards Yemen by the Prophet (Sallahu Alaihi Wassallam) and he said, "Don't touch the Qura'n unless you are Taahir (clean from impurity)." [Mustadrak]

Sayydina Abdhullah Ibn Umar (RA) narrates that the Prophet of Allah (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) said, 'Don't touch the Qur'aan except in the state of purity.' [Tabarani]

Regarding Touching the Translation or Tafsir of The Quran then it is permissible:
  http://www.islam-qa.com/en/ref/22829

As for Non Muslim touching Arabic Quran this is completely impermissible because of the following verse from the Quran.

O you who have believed, indeed the polytheists are unclean [9:28]
http://islamqa.info/en/ref/12225/dua%20for%20non%20muslim

In the incident of Sayyidna 'Umar's (RA) embracing Islam, Umar Bin Khattab  where he asked his sister, Fathima Binti Khattab to give him the pages of the Qur'an, she recited verse [79] of this Surah, refused to give him the pages and said 'only the pure ones can touch it'. As a result, he was forced to take a bath, and then recite the contents of the pages. The version from Dar-Qutni is narrated above.

But if there is more translation and Tafseer than the Arabic verses, then there is no problem http://www.islam-qa.com/en/ref/22829
The letters sent by Prophet (Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam) to different Kings contained Qura'nic verses:

Dua to seek protection from Shirk

Abu Bakr Siddique has narrated that Rasulullah (SAW) said : “Shirk in my Ummah is much more hidden than the pace of an ant crawling upon a black stone.” Shirk is very hidden. It enters the heart very silently and very few are saved from it. Upon hearing this, Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique asked : “How can one be protected from Shirk?” Rasulullah said : “ Should I not show you such a supplication (dua) that if you recite it, you will be free from minor and major Shirk.” Hazrat Abu Bakr requested him to do so. Rasulullah (SAW) instructed him to say : “Allahumma innee a’oodhu bika min an ushrika bika shay-a`w wa-ana a’alam wa-astaghfiruka limaa laa a’alam.” “O Allah, I seek protection in You from that I ascribe partners to You knowingly and I seek forgiveness from You for those things which I do not know.”
"O Allah, I take refuge in you lest I should commit shirk with You knowingly, and I seek your forgiveness from You for those things which I do not know." [Found in Adab al-Mufrad, 716 and Musnad Abi Ya'la - classed as saheeh by Al-Albani in 'Saheeh Adab al-Mufrad], 551 (see also Jaami' as-Sagheer, 4934]
The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "O people, save yourselves from shirk, for it is more inconspicuous than the creeping of the ant. Someone whom Allah willed (to speak) asked: 'How do we save ourselves from it while it is more inconspicuous than the creeping of the ant O Messenger of Allah?' He صلي الله عليه وسلم said: 'Say: O Allah we seek refuge in You from associating anything with You knowingly, and we seek Your forgiveness for what we do unknowingly.'" [Musnad Ahmad, 4/403 and others - classed as saheeh in 'Saheeh al-Jaami', 3/233 (#2876)] May Allah protect us all from shirk and keep our tongues moist with repentance.

Service to Mankind is also service to ALLAH (Azwajal)

Bismillahirrahmanirraheem

 896  ‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "Verily, Allah, the Exalted, and Glorious will say on the Day of Resurrection: 'O son of Adam, I was ill but you did not visit Me.' He would say: 'O my Rubb, how could I visit you and You are the Rubb of the worlds?' Thereupon He would say: 'Did you not know that such and such a slave of Mine was ill but you did not visit him? Did you not realize that if you had visited him (you would have known that I was aware of your visit to him, for which I would reward you) you would have found Me with him? O son of Adam, I asked food from you but you did not feed Me.' He would submit: 'My Rubb, how could I feed You and You are the Rubb of the worlds?' He would say: 'Did you not know that such and such a slave of Mine asked you for food but you did not feed him? Did you not realize that if you had fed him, you would certainly have found (its reward) with Me? O son of Adam, I asked water from you but you did not give it to Me.' He would say: 'My Rubb, how could I give You (water) and You are the Rubb of the worlds?' Thereupon He would say: 'Such and such a slave of Mine asked you for water to drink but you did not give it to him. Did you not realize that if you had given him to drink you would have found (its reward) with Me?"'

Dua/supplication in Congregation

Islam Allows to supplicate in Congregation with a particular Goal. Examples like supplicating together for forgiveness, supplicating together for requesting Rain, witr etc..If there is No goal of asking ALLAH and it just becomes a formality or worship  i.e.  After every prayer, then there is no basis in Shariah.

The Proofs for supplicating in congregation are as follows:

1.) From the Quran Chapter 24 Verse 31 Where ALLAH Azwajal says:

And O you Believers! turn all together towards Allah, that you may attain Bliss.

2.) This Hadith Qudusi of Imam Nawwi (Rah) also found in Sahih Al- Muslim:
O My servants, even if the first amongst you and the last amongst you and the whole human race of yours and that of jinns also all stand in one plain ground and you ask Me and I confer upon every person what he asks for, it would not. in any way, cause any loss to Me (even less) than that which is caused to the ocean by dipping the needle in it. http://sunnah.com/urn/262460

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) ascended the minbar and said: “Ameen, ameen, ameen.” It was said: ‘O Messenger of Allaah, you ascended the minbar and said, ‘Ameen, ameen, ameen.” He said: “Jibreel (peace be upon him) came to me and said: ‘If Ramadaan comes and a person is not forgiven, he will enter Hell and Allaah will cast him far away. Say Ameen.’ So I said Ameen. He said: ‘O Muhammad, if both or one of a person’s parents are alive and he does not honour them and he dies, he will enter Hell and Allaah will cast him far away. Say Ameen.’ So I said Ameen. He said: ‘If you are mentioned in a person’s presence and he does not send blessings upon you and he dies, he will enter Hell and Allaah will cast him far away. Say Ameen.’ So I said Ameen.”

Umm Darda' reported:My husband reported that he heard Allah's Mes- senger (ﷺ) as saying: He who supplicates for his brother behind his back (in his absence), the Angel commissioned (for carrying supplication to his Lord) says: Aameen, and it is for you also. Sahih Muslim 2732 b,2895

Hadith that Muslim collected from Ibn `Abbas.Further, Ibn Jarir recorded that Abu Ishaq said that whenever Mu`adh would finish reciting this Surah,
And give us victory over the disbelieving people, he would say "Aameen".[Tafsir Ibn Kathir]

Harun said "Aameen'' to his brother's prayer. And Allah answered Musa's prayer. Allah said:
(Verily, the invocation of you both is accepted.) `in destroying Fir`awn's people.
(Verily I have answered your prayers (both of you). So you both keep to the straight way) So as I have answered your prayer, you should remain steadfast on My command.' [Tafsir Ibn Kathir Yoonus 10:89]]

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas:The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) recited the supplication (Qunut) daily for a month at the noon, afternoon, sunset, night and morning prayers. When he said: "Allah listens to him who praises Him" in the last rak'ah, invoking a curse on some clans of Banu Sulaym, Ri'l, Dhakwan and Usayyah, and those who were standing behind him said: Aameen.  Sunan Abi Dawud 1443

Mu'awiya ibn Qurra said, "When Iyas was born to me, I invited a group of the Companions of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and I fed them and they made supplication. I said, 'You have made supplication, so may Allah bless you for your supplication. If I make supplication, then you say, "Aameen".' He went on, 'I made a lot of supplication for him for his deen, his intellect and things like that.' He added, 'I still recognize the supplication of that day in him." [Al-Adab Al-Mufrad Hadith 1255]

When to say Aameen
Mu'aath Al-Qaari supplicated during Ramadhaan saying: 'O Allaah! Rain is not falling" so people said: "Aameen" After Salaah he told them: "You were so hasty saying Aameen. Let me supplicate and then say it." One should wait until the Imaam supplicates and then say Aameen.

There is nothing wrong with it if it is done occasionally, but if it becomes a custom that is done regularly, then it is a bid‘ah (innovation).
